Foot Reflexology

An enjoyable, invigorating yet relaxing treatment which promotes a sense of wellbeing. Reflexology treats your whole body via pressure points in the feet while loosening tight muscles and encouraging circulation.

After having an hour's reflexology session with Sarah I not only felt wonderful in mind and body but slept extremely well for a week!!

Times of stress or fatigue (especially if experienced chronically) can put strain on our bodies and minds, leaving us feeling tired and less able to cope. We may feel ‘stuck in the mud’, unsure of what to do next or simply overwhelmed.

Reflexology can help promote and maintain a sense of balance both emotionally and physically. A restorative therapy which can increase energy levels. Stimulation of the nervous and circulatory systems can help to manage pain and alleviate chronic symptoms by addressing underlying causes rather than just treating symptoms.

This deeply relaxing treatment begins with a hot towel foot cleanse and may incorporate essential oils to add extra therapeutic depth.

Reflexology affects the body and mind in several ways.

Physical wellbeing

Soothing touch stimulates release of endorphins, our ‘feel good’ chemical messengers. This can help calm fraught nerves by rebalancing the effects of the ‘stress’ hormone, cortisol.

Massage of the feet and lower legs improves circulation and can increase ankle and foot mobility. It reduces muscle tension and expels lactic and uric acid build up.

Mental wellbeing

Each session begins and ends with a conversation. You will be asked how you are.  You will be listened to.

The warm treatment room and heated, top of the range couch offer a chance to fully unwind, while the scent of oils and gentle background soundscape cocoon you into a deeply relaxed state.

Emotional wellbeing

Memories can be stored in the body just as they are retained in the mind. Reflexology can help release old emotional pain just as it can ease effects of physical injury and promote a healing response.

Reflexology is used in many palliative care settings to relieve discomfort and promote pain relief in those experiencing End of Life care. It is also an effective way of maintaining your own emotional equilibrium if you are caring for someone with a terminal or chronic condition.

Spiritual wellbeing

Regular treatments help reconnect us with ourselves. They bring us back into a state of wonder and appreciation of our bodies. We are less likely to slip into old (perhaps unhelpful) behaviour and thought patterns once we have developed a stronger relationship with our own physical self.
